‘Schemes to deliberately manipulate the Earth’s climate could prove useless, and at worst harmful, claims a new study.


The strategies include reflecting sunlight from space, adding lime to the oceans, and irrigating vast expanses of the North African and Australian deserts to grow trees.


Known as geoengineering, ideas such as these have gained popularity with some governments attempting to meet their carbon emission targets while still producing cheap energy.’

Man-made climate change is one of the world's biggest threats, says David Cameron in PMQs



‘Speaking in the Commons during Prime Minister’s Questions today, Mr Cameron defended the Government’s green record after Labour leader Ed Miliband accused him of being “desperate to get off the subject”.


Mr Miliband pressed the Prime Minister on why he was happy to have “climate change deniers” in his Cabinet, echoing the call from the Green Party earlier this month to have purge of disbelievers at the top of Government.


After Mr Miliband asked the Prime Minister for his views on man-made climate change, Mr Cameron said: “I believe man-made climate change is one of the most serious threats this country and this world faces – that is why we have the world’s first green investment bank here in Britain.’
